Twenty years after the release of the hit film, the entire team of “The Full Monty” is back for a sequel in the form of a series. The project, planned for the Disney + platform, has just started filming.
The project of a sequel to the comedy The Full Monty has been in the cards for years. Since 2001 exactly. Fans of the British classic can rejoice: Gaz and his gang are back in an eight-episode mini-series from Disney+. Filming has just started in Sheffield and Manchester.
All the performers of the original film return, from Robert Carlyle to Tom Wilkinson, but also screenwriter Simon Beaufoy – nominated for the Oscar for best original screenplay in 1998 – and producer Uberto Pasolini. “We are delighted to reunite the Monty Men again – who now live in a chaotic atmosphere of children, grandchildren, pets and more or less harmful members of their entourage.”, says Simon Beaufoy.
The plot finds the protagonists twenty-five years after the events of the first film. Gaz and his friends are trying to survive in Sheffield in the face of the most difficult economic context in all sectors. “Through their collective efforts and their deep humanity, they will find solutions as absurd as they are inventive to triumph over adversity.”, states the press release.
