A solo for the secret star of “Mad Max: Fury Road”: The first furious trailer for the prequel “Furiosa” with Anya Taylor-Joy is here.
Almost half a year before the planned theatrical release on May 24, 2024: Warner Bros. has the First trailer for “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” released. In the prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Ladies Gambit” star Anya Taylor-Joy (27) plays the young Furiosa. In the fourth part of the End Times saga in 2015, Charlize Theron (48) played the one-armed fighter.
According to the trailer, “Furiosa” takes place 45 years after the collapse of civilization. A time that we know from all four “Mad Max” films with Mel Gibson (67) and Tom Hardy (46). As previously known, the prequel spans 15 years. In the teaser we also see several ages of the title heroine.
In “Furiosa”, the title heroine is kidnapped from the safety of the Green Land by the warlord Dementus. Chris “Thor” Hemsworth (40) plays the villain. Also briefly seen in the trailer is Immortan Joe, the main villain from “Fury Road”. In the prehistory he fights with Dementus for supremacy in the desert.
Will we learn how Furiosa lost her arm?
In the trailer you can also see Furiosa’s prosthetic arm, which she wears in “Mad Max: Fury Road”. So, it can be assumed that the film will reveal how she lost her arm.
Otherwise, the trailer promises what fans of “Mad Max” are used to: crazy vehicles, crazy costumes – and of course pure action. Director George Miller (78) seems to have delivered as usual in his fourth apocalyptic work.
As a refresher: This is Furiosa in “Mad Max: Fury Road”
As a reminder or for those who haven’t seen “Mad Max: Fury Road”: In “Mad Max 4”, Furiosa is initially a henchwoman of Immortan Joe under the name Imperator Furiosa. But when she is supposed to escort five women from the tyrant’s harem, she frees the slaves and fights alongside “Mad” Max Rockatansky against Immortan Joe.
Fans of the franchise already know where Furiosa’s “Odyssey” ends, as announced in the trailer for her solo film.
