Gabriella de Givenchy
This is how stylish the fashion designer’s great-niece gets married
Gabriella Taffin de Givenchy, great niece of Givenchy creator Hubert Givenchy, got married in June. It goes without saying that her dress had to be something very special.
Those who are born in a fashion house have probably always been certain: the wedding dress has to be something very special. This also applies to Gabriella Taffin de Givenchy, great-granddaughter of the fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy († 2018). In June 2021, she said yes to her partner Ugo De Mallmann on the Italian island of Capri. The American “VOGUE” accompanied the wedding.
The dream wedding should actually take place in the south of France in 2020, as Gabriella reveals to “VOGUE”. Due to the pandemic, it had to be postponed twice. “It was very special to have only our closest friends and family with us.” The wedding ceremony took place in the Belvedere della Migliara.
Wedding in haute couture
Of course, the wedding dress by Gabriella Taffin de Givenchy should be a very special piece – of course by Givenchy. It should represent your personal style and at the same time fit the island of Capri. In collaboration with the Givenchy team, she created her romantic dress with lace flowers, a heart-shaped neckline and narrow sleeves. Gabrielle kept her makeup very subtle and natural, as did her hair. There was a veil in the light waves; perfectly matched to the dress.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to wear Givenchy to my wedding,” Gabriella says in an interview. “I know that this is what my great-uncle Hubert would have wanted. It was very important for me to honor him in this way.” Gabriella really enjoyed working with Marjorie Andres, Givenchy’s Haute Couture Director. Some of the team would have worked with their great-uncle a few years ago.
Gabriella Taffin de Givenchy does not seem to want to enter the fashion business. She is just about to launch her own line of jewelry. Only in the lockdown did she graduate in gemology.
