Galaxy S21 always cheaper: But you should still wait to buy

In mid-January 2021, Samsung unveiled its new flagship, the Galaxy S21. The cell phone went on sale on January 29th. At the market launch, the recommended retail price of 849 euros for a Galaxy S21 with 128 gigabytes of storage was due. For more memory or a model from the S21 Plus or Ultra series, the price was even higher and quickly exceeded 1,000 euros.

Now the phones have been on the market for almost a year and you will find the different versions of the Galaxy S21 much cheaper. Sometimes the prices drop by more than 100 euros compared to the recommended retail price. We give you an overview of where you are currently buying at the best price.

The Galaxy S21 currently costs only 659.99 euros on eBay. A very good price, because other retailers charge at least 700 euros. The manufacturer itself calls for almost 190 euros more with a price of 849.

In contrast to the standard version, the Galaxy S21 + with 128 gigabytes of memory is equipped with a back made of Gorilla Glass Victus and a 6.7-inch display. In addition, the battery is more powerful with 4,800 mAh. However, the cell phone also weighs 40 grams more than the normal S21. You can buy the Galaxy S21 + on Amazon for only 739 euros. Compared to other retailers, you save around 70 euros here, but the manufacturer calls a price of 1,049 euros.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra with 128 gigabytes of memory is available from Coolblue for 1069 euros. A proud 1,249 euros are due directly from Samsung. Other providers charge at least 1,100 euros.

Should you go for the Galaxy S21 or the predecessor?

You should think twice about buying the normal Galaxy S21. As we found in our quick check, this is more of a slightly tuned Galaxy S20 than a completely redesigned cell phone.

There are no really groundbreaking innovations between the successor and the predecessor. The manufacturer is much more likely to focus on detail improvements. For example, the Galaxy S21 has:

However, the innovations in the Galaxy S21 Ultra are more profound. The premium version of the cell phone comes with an additional telephoto camera and is also the first cell phone from Samsung’s S series that can be operated with the S-Pen.

In addition to all the small and big innovations that the Galaxy S21 series brings with it, there are also some changes that many interested buyers will likely notice negatively.

The manufacturer does without an SD card slot or a headphone connection. The standard version of the cell phone is also only available with a plastic back. If you want a cell phone that is made of Gorilla Glass on both the front and back, you have to use the S21 Plus or S21 Ultra.

Better to wait before buying

But even if you are not put off, it can still be worth waiting to buy. Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S22 in February. Then the price for the predecessor should move again significantly. According to current rumors, major innovations are not to be expected here either.
