Die-hard fans of the Warcraft universe can now relive part of the Warcraft 2 adventure thanks to a team of enthusiasts. The project “Chronicles of the Second War: Tides of Darkness,” developed voluntarily by the LoreCraft Designs modding teamhas just launched the first part of its campaign, offering renewed experience for fans of the strategy game from Blizzard Entertainment. After three years of intensive development, the group of modders managed to recreate an important part of the Horde campaign from Warcraft 2 in Warcraft 3: Reforged. This remastered version includes 17 missions endowed with modernized mechanicsagain narrative elements inspired by World of Warcraft and related novelsas well as original cutscenes and an remastered soundtrack.

LoreCraft Designs continues to work

The LoreCraft Designs team, made up of seven designers and numerous contributors, took on the colossal challenge of transpose Warcraft 2 into the Warcraft 3 engine. This remake offers features such as expanded tech trees, new heroesreworked game mechanics including naval battles and oil resources iconic Warcraft 2 game. The result is an immersive experience that breathes new life into the Blizzard classic. Note also that the mod has a French version. The LoreCraft Designs team does not intend to stop there, since they also have plans to remaster the Human campaign of Warcraft 2 and create the mod “Chains of Conquest”, expanding the history of events in Warcraft: Orcs and Humans (with the uprising of the Horde, the fall of the Draenei…).

A mod already installed more than 30,000 times

Although Warcraft 3: Reforged was initially met with mixed reception, this mod offers players a reason to rediscover the cult RTS. While Chronicles of the Second War has already been installed more than 30,000 times and received praise from the community, this project carried out by enthusiasts recalls the importance of fans in the maintaining the legacy of classic games, and their preservation. As similar projects proliferate to bring outdated classics back to life, they also highlight the enduring demand from gamers. Blizzard Entertainment, now owned by Microsoft, could take inspiration from it and consider new projects of its kind to meet the expectations of its community.
