The year 2024 has now launched and manufacturers are on alert to lure players with new announcements. While Microsoft recently pulled out all the stops with its Xbox Developer Direct, it’s Sony’s turn to respond with some nice surprises!

40 minutes of announcements for the PS5

As the year 2024 has just begun, Sony has just announced the upcoming broadcast of a new State of Play. On the menu of celebrations, the Japanese firm intends to tell us more about projects announced some time ago, in addition to revealing some surprises. Obviously, the PlayStation 5 will be at the heart of the event since those interested will focus on two highly anticipated titles for the machine, Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin. The first is an action/adventure game signed by the Korean studio Shift Up and which promises a lot. While humanity is threatened with extinction, survivors find themselves forced to leave the Earth prey to an invasion of super-powerful creatures. Despite slim hopes, a squad decides to confront these entities to retake the planet. You are one of these members, but everything is not going to go as planned… Stella Blade relies on its supercharged action and its epic universe to take us on an adventure full of twists and turns.

Rise of the Ronin, meanwhile, is the brand new game from Team Ninja. In this title from the creators of Nioh and Ninja Gaiden, players will relive the conflicts of feudal Japan and delve into the founding events of the country. As the Tokugawa shogunate ends, a shadow fighter will try to extricate himself from the chaos and division that reign on his lands to change the destiny of his people. As a ronin, the lone samurai will have to make decisions that will impact the course of the story. Rise of the Ronin thus promises multiple plot twists depending on whether you associate with a particular individual and clan. By providing access to the cultural revolution experienced by the Japanese at that time, Team Ninja’s game promises to be an extraordinary change of scenery. And with the Nioh developers at the helm, we can expect some heavy gameplay!

Any surprises on PS5 and PS VR2?

In addition to Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin, this State of Play will be an opportunity for Sony to reassure those who have opted for the PS VR2. While the accessory will soon celebrate its first year of existence, we cannot say that the announcements have been crowded at the gate on this medium. In its announcement message, Sony thus reports revelations on this subject, but also new announcements concerning the PS5, over a period ranging from 2024 to the following years. In total, around fifteen games will be presented.

Recently, several rumors concerning this State of Play have crossed the corridors of the Internet and it is possible that players will discover, during the broadcast of this new edition, some information on Death Stranding 2, but also a new game on Sonic. There would also be a question of the remake of Silent Hill 2, eagerly awaited by fans of survival horror and the Konami license, or even the DLC of Elden Ring. We’re going to keep our fingers crossed that the 40 minutes of broadcast will have some nice surprises and announcements in store for us. If you own a PS5 and/or PS VR2, this is the web event not to be missed!

The event will be followed this Wednesday, January 31 from 11 p.m. You can obviously count on Jeuxvideo.com to cover this State of Play.
