A DLC that renews the experience
This multiplayer mode comes in the form of a DLC that you can treat yourself to for the modest sum of 3.10 dollars, or 2.89 euros. This additional content also adds “several modes within the mode”. So you can compete against your friends with different rules. You obviously have the classic mode, that is to say the game as you know it: the goal is to make the highest possible score before losing your game by overflowing the jar, if you have more points than your opponent you win the game. Then there is the “attack mode”: like Tetris 99, you can throw penalties at your enemy, even if here it is only limited to sending fruit in order to hinder your opponent’s progress. Finally the “Time Limit mode” only adds a 5 minute timer. The winner is the one with the highest score at the end of the time limit. Enough to renew your experience of the game, but there is a small downside: for the moment it is only local multiplayer. Don’t panic since an online mode will arrive in the future, as indicated in the DLC trailer.
An unexpected success
If a multiplayer mode is welcome for the entire Suika Game community, one might wonder how this game was able to conquer many players. The title will be released in 2021 in Japan on Switch but it took two years before it went viral and landed here. The game was first popularized by local content creators. Then, exporting the title beyond borders was a desire of its creator, Aladdin Above all, to get the best score, you have to think carefully and adopt a strategy based on the fruits offered to you. There is no doubt that the multiplayer mode will breathe new life into the hype of the title.
