Gauss reads – Paul Flora exhibition in Salzburg

The Salzburg writer Karl-Markus Gauss and the graphic artist Paul Flora (†) were close friends. This special artistic relationship is now being revived in the Welz Gallery (City of Salzburg) on the occasion of Flora’s 100th birthday.

“Paul Flora was proud that his drawings not only hang in museums, but in thousands upon thousands of living rooms of those who are commonly referred to as ‘simple people’,” wrote author Karl-Markus Gauss in his obituary about Paul Flora. Exactly these drawings by the draftsman and caricaturist from the years 1938 to 2009 are now being exhibited by the Welz Gallery in the Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse. The gift that the Welz Gallery gives its guests is to take visitors into Flora’s imaginative and multifaceted pictorial world on the occasion of Flora’s 100th birthday. At the ceremonial opening of the exhibition on Tuesday evening, friend and companion Karl-Markus Gauss will commemorate his friend with a literary homage.
