Gaza: Ceasefire talks in “delicate phase,” says Qatar

DUBAI, April 17 (Reuters) – Talks on a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages are in a “delicate phase”, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abderrahmane said on Wednesday Al-Thani.

“We are doing everything in our power to overcome this pitfall,” he added, without giving further details.

Mohammed bin Abderrahmane Al-Thani also condemned what he described as a policy of “collective punishment” carried out by Israel in its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Qatar and Egypt have been holding discussions for several weeks on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, devastated by the Israeli offensive carried out in retaliation for the Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7.
