Gazoo Racing truck – Toyota Hilux GR Sport: Dakar flair for the pick-up

Toyota entered the Dakar Rally with several Hilux competition vehicles. A little of the spirit of this desert conqueror is transferred to the series Hilux in summer.

Next summer, Toyota will launch a new top version of the pick-up model, the GR Sport. GR stands for Gazoo Racing, the Japanese sports department, which is generally responsible for motorsport in the company, but is also responsible for dynamic models such as the GR Supra, GR Yaris or GR 86. The external features of the equipment variant, which is only available as a double cab, include special 17-inch alloy wheels, a black radiator grille with a specific honeycomb structure and carbon center brace, as well as additional black accents. The interior offers sports seats with leather-Alcantara upholstery and red contrasting stitching, aluminum pedals, carbon-look trim strips and a red stripe running across the width of the dashboard. The only selectable drive is a 2.8-liter four-cylinder with 500 Newton meters of torque and 204 hp in Combination with six-speed automatic. The GR Sport offers its own chassis tuning. Red-painted shock absorbers on the front axle are said to be more resilient, and there are also new front axle springs with a stiffer identifier. All in all, Toyota promises better handling and steering behavior with greater comfort for the sports version. Prices for the Hilux GR Sport have not yet been mentioned. However, its equipment is largely identical to that of the Hilux Invincible, which costs a good 57,000 euros. The GR Sport will probably be priced slightly higher. (SPX)
