The giant Meta, parent company of Facebook, and the digital second chance school, Simplon, are offering training in generative artificial intelligence to all French people. Free, it will allow you to get started with the technology.

Do you want to train in AI without spending money? This is good news, because Meta and Simplon are joining forces to accelerate the democratization of the worrying but promising generative artificial intelligence in France. The two actors announced, Sunday February 11, the launch of an initiative called “AI initiation workshops” which aims to train, by the end of 2024, more than 30,000 people in the country, on the fundamental concepts of generative AI. The training is free and requires no prerequisites.

Generative artificial intelligence workshops throughout France

Mark your calendars! Starting this spring, eight workshops will be deployed and hosted throughout France. Meta and Simplon will meet you for half a day in Marseille, Paris, Lyon, Nantes, Lille, Bordeaux, Rennes and Montpellier, for an event which will be structured around three distinct themes.

Simplon, which no longer has much to prove in terms of digital training, will ensure the delivery of educational content, while the expertise of the Impact IA collective will guarantee beneficiaries a responsible approach to generative AI, with a reminder of the good practices and issues of technology.

To make this training accessible to as many people as possible, the workshops will also be available online (via a MOOC), where the emphasis will be placed on practical exercises which will facilitate distance learning. To do this, Meta and Simplon will rely on their collaboration with France Travail (formerly Pôle Emploi), the chambers of commerce and industry and French Tech.

A busy half-day of training, with certification at the end

On the program for this half-day of training: an overview of generative AI with its capabilities in generating images, text, sound and video; a practical application with the use of various tools; and raising awareness of the issues. “ Generative AI opens up technological, economic and social perspectives. We are proud to be able to give the keys to the general public so that they can seize all the opportunities “, declared Meta’s vice-president of Southern Europe, Laurent Solly.

At the end of the program, participants will receive a training certificate issued by Simplon, attesting to their initiation to the use of generative AI tools. This certification will notably highlight their ability to handle technologies related to text, image and sound processing.

Generative AI is a major opportunity to use technology for high value-added uses, whether personal or professional, and this is the case for everyone because these tools are accessible: you just need to put there », concludes the president of Simplon, Frédéric Bardeau, whom Clubic interviewed in 2019.
