George Clooney: is he directing an Amazon project?

George Clooney is said to be in talks with Amazon Studios for a new film project where he will be a producer and director.

George Clooney (59, "Ocean's Eleven") could soon take a seat in the director's chair again: As "Deadline" reports, Clooney is said to be in discussion with the Amazon Studios. As director and producer, he is supposed to implement the film version of "The Tender Bar: A Memoir".

An adaptation by J.R. Moehringer's 2005 book was previously being planned by Sony Pictures. The story revolves around the author, who is looking for a replacement for his father as a young boy, a New York DJ who disappeared before his son could say his first word. When he can no longer hear his father's voice on the radio, the boy goes to a bar on the corner and desperately turns to his uncle Charlie and other adults who become his friends. William Monahan, who won an Oscar for best adapted screenplay for "The Departed", wrote the screenplay for "The Tender Bar".

In February 2020, Clooney completed Midnight Sky, a Netflix film that he directed and starred in. In 2019 he directed two episodes of the "Catch-22" mini series. Clooney also worked as a director and producer in "Suburbicon" (2017).
