Germany is looking for the superstar: What are the requirements of the new jurors?

The new jury is complete. What requirements do Maite Kelly, Michael Wendler and Mike Singer have for the job as "DSDS" jurors?

The new jury for the RTL casting show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (also via TVNow) is complete. In addition to pop titan Dieter Bohlen (66, "Cheri Cheri Lady"), Maite Kelly (40, "Tonight Forever"), Michael Wendler (48, "She loves the DJ") and Mike Singer (20, "No.") decide in season 18 ") about who can present themselves as Germany's next superstar. While chief juror Bohlen should be well known to the audience after 17 seasons, his three colleagues are facing the jurors' task for "DSDS" for the first time. What can viewers expect?

Maite Kelly

She knows what it means to be in the spotlight: As part of the Kelly Family, Maite Kelly was on the stages of Europe as a child and played in front of thousands of people. She has been solo since 2007, sang with Roland Kaiser (68, "Why didn't you say no") and was named "Dancing Star" on the RTL show "Let's Dance" in 2011. The following year, she was also on the jury for "Let's Dance".

What Maite Kelly can bring from her multi-faceted career is not just her experience as a singer, but also her feeling for people who do not yet fully trust their potential. As she said RTL, she wants to find a "rough diamond": "My heart tells me … there is someone out there who might be able to become a star, but who might not even know it … so please apply. "

Michael Wendler

Michael Wendler, the self-proclaimed "King of Pop hits", knows how to get the media's attention. Wendler has plenty of experience with headlines and reality TV formats. Candidates could learn from him how to do it with public relations – as is well known, an important part of life for budding pop stars. He is also sure of the support of his wife Laura Müller (20).

His interaction with Dieter Bohlen should be exciting for the audience. He had once said in advance that Wendler would never sit next to him on the "DSDS" jury. The chief juror then had to admit on Instagram that he probably doesn't have as much influence on the decision as he wanted: "Lewandowski can't say with whom he plays football either." Will these two egos get along?

Mike Singer

For a format that is particularly aimed at a young target group, ex-juror Pietro Lombardi (28) has recently been a crowd puller. Now the average age of 20-year-old Mike Singer is being reduced significantly. The show-experienced digital native prodigy brings a following of over 1.4 million Instagram subscribers to "DSDS". He became famous through YouTube, his previous three albums have all landed at the top of the chart and in 2018 he was part of the German jury for the ESC. Most recently he reached second place as Wuschel on "The Masked Singer".

He is the youngest juror the show has ever had. And still has a lot ahead of the others: "Despite my young age, I have already gained a lot of experience in the music industry, social media and in a casting show that I would like to pass on."
