BERLIN (Reuters) – Retail sales in Germany unexpectedly surged in November, despite new restrictions linked to the COVID-19 pandemic that have dampened the recovery in consumption in Europe’s largest economy.
The Federal Statistical Office on Tuesday reported an increase of 0.6% in real terms in retail sales over one month.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a drop of 0.5%.
