Are you back from vacation with a summer complexion and want to keep your tan for as long as possible? Then we have five helpful tips for you.

With a lightly tanned complexion you look relaxed and healthy and we would prefer to keep our holiday tan forever. Unfortunately, the winter pallor often comes back faster than we would like, because our skin regenerates itself at regular intervals and the tanned layer gradually disappears. This process cannot be stopped – but at least it can be delayed a little. You can read here how to keep your summer tan for as long as possible.

1. Cream skin

To keep your tan for as long as possible, you should moisturize your skin generously, because hydrated skin dries out less quickly and is less likely to flake. are recommended Creams with aloe vera and vegetable oils such as coconut oil, jojoba oil or almond oil. Regular application of lotion also makes the skin more supple and elastic and can reduce signs of skin aging.

2. Avoid scrubs

You should avoid exfoliation after your vacation if you want to keep your summer tan, because exfoliation removes the top (tanned) layer of skin even faster. This applies to both mechanical peels, which use small granules to remove dandruff, and chemical peels with AHA, BHA or PHA, which use acid to exfoliate the skin.

3. Shower instead of bath

A hot bath removes moisture from the skin and also causes it to dry out and flake faster. A short, cool shower is gentler on your tan. After showering, you should treat your skin to moisturizing care.

4. Drink lots of water

You can also counteract dry skin and flaking from the inside by drinking lots of water or unsweetened herbal or fruit tea. The German Society for Nutrition (DGE) recommends drinking at least 1.5 liters of water a day.

5. Take beta-carotene

Our diet also affects the appearance of our skin. Foods that contain the plant compound beta-carotene can help maintain or enhance a summer tan. Beta-carotene is found in, for example, carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, mango or papaya. There are also special ones Tanning capsules with beta-carotene.
