Sony Pictures has just released the trailer for Ghostbusters: The Ice Menace (Or Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire in VO). This is the sequel to the 2021 film, Ghostbusters: Legacy.

When it comes to releasing old formalin licenses to offer sequels or reboots, generally the result is not up to par. However, with Ghostbusters: Legacy (Ghostbusters: Afterlife in English), Sony Pictures managed two years ago to offer a nice sequel to the duo of original Ghostbusters films from 1984 and 1989 (while conspicuously ignoring the unloved reboot Ghostbusters of 2016). No surprise then that, thanks to this success, a sequel to this sequel will soon be arriving in theaters: Ghostbusters: The Ice Menace. See you at the cinema in 2024 without further details (March however seems to be targeted), while the trailer is out.

A ghost hunt between tradition and modernity

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family is back where it all began: the New York barracks. Indeed, our “beginner” ghostbusters will have to team up with the original Ghostbusters and use their top secret research lab to beat ghosts of another level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil, icy force, Ghostbusters from all generations will have to join forces to protect their home and save the world.

New and old to appeal to everyone

Directed by Gil Kenan (who co-wrote Ghostbusters: Legacy) and co-written with Jason Reitman (who directed and co-wrote Ghostbusters: Legacy, it’s a game of musical chairs…), the film benefits its cast from the returns of Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson, but also Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and even Patton Oswalt. There should be something for everyone.

And if you want to catch up on the whole saga or at least Ghostbusters: Legacy, you will have to turn to buying or renting. No streaming service currently offers the film in SVoD, although Canal+ recently added it to its catalog.
