Following the murder of the owner of the bar Le Basque du Bassin in La Teste on December 9, the establishment was broken into during the night from Wednesday to Thursday

The start of the year will not reassure us about human nature in La Teste-de-Buch. One or more individuals broke into the night from Wednesday to Thursday inside the bar-restaurant Le Basque du Bassin, located on the port of the town. They stole professional machines, such as coffee makers, as well as bottles.

This theft could have been a trivial news item if it weren’t for the establishment of Frédéric Vaudeville, fatally stabbed in front of his bar on the night of December 9 to 10 at the age of 50, when he was trying to separate two men who were fighting. His death in these dramatic circumstances had aroused immense emotion in the Arcachon basin and beyond.

This jovial, friendly man was greatly appreciated. A former high-level rugby player, he transformed his tapas bar into a temple of conviviality. In homage to “Fredo”, dozens of bouquets of flowers and wreaths had been placed in front of the terrace of his establishment and a very moving religious ceremony had brought together a mad world at the Basilica of Arcachon. A pot had also been opened for his daughter.

But the burglar (s) had no qualms. They took advantage of the closure of the establishment following the tragedy to enter and commit their crime. Frédéric Vaudeville’s daughter notified the police who made the findings and opened an investigation. A complaint was also filed.
