Last Saturday they got involved Markus Söder, 56, and his daughter Gloria-Sophie Burkandt, 24, together for a good cause at the “A Heart for Children” gala. The next day they share beautiful photos from the red carpet on social media. And that backfires for Gloria Sophie. Now Gloria speaks out herself.
Gloria-Sophie: She is hardly recognizable
After this special evening, Gloria-Sophie Burkandt shares her impressions of the fundraising gala with emotional words, emphasizing her gratitude for the family and the importance of the event. A photo on the fifth slide shows Gloria alongside her father Markus Söder on the red carpet. She is wearing a blue-green shimmering sequin dress, her hair is styled in an elegant bun in the middle and small earrings complete her attractive look. Also visible: flawless skin, an alert look, full lips and a perfectly shaped jawline. But in comparison, there is a pretty big difference in her father Markus.
Papa Markus provides clarity
Markus Söder publishes almost the same photo from the same event. The beautiful Gloria Sophie can also be seen here, but with normal skin, visible structures, thinner lips and overall different facial features. Gloria has obviously used Photoshop or other image editing apps on her profile – so much so that she is almost unrecognizable. It’s not the first time that the difference between the photos on Gloria’s profile and the official photos has caused astonished reactions.
The internet reacts with ridicule and pity
Even though Gloria has disabled comments on her Instagram profile, the Photoshop fail hasn’t gone unnoticed. “Awesome, you would never recognize her here, or the other way around on her account,” comments a user under Markus Söder’s photo. Gloria’s photo fail is also being actively discussed on TikTok. “Instead of banning gender, could #markussöderJust ban beauty filters – right?” is the title of an influencer’s video, which has already had half a million views within a few hours. “I see two different people,” it states. In addition to ridicule and malice, there is also pity and incomprehension for Gloria’s decision to change her face to edit so much: “I don’t understand why she even edits the picture when she already looks so good,” and “Wow, that’s really super sad,” it also says under the video.
Gloria Burkandt: Now she’s speaking out
Two days after her original posting, Gloria commented on the reactions to her photostop fail. She posts photos from her modeling agency in New York and admits that her fundraising gala pictures were edited. In her statement she writes: “The media criticizing my photos is actually right; I have edited a few of my red carpet pictures.” However, the question of their motives for editing remains unanswered.
Gloria states that photo editing has been quite common for the past 40 years. Nevertheless, she criticizes the handling and harsh reactions to her edited photos: “We have other problems in this world than talking about edited photos.” However, she does not explain why exactly she edited her photos so much.
