The monster spectacle “Godzilla vs. Kong” is the most successful movie since the beginning of the corona pandemic.

The monster spectacle “Godzilla vs. Kong” marches on. After the extremely successful theatrical release, the film by director Adam Wingard (38, “The Guest”) has now set a pandemic record. The film could according to the US industry journal “Variety” in the USA over the Easter weekend will bring in 32 million dollars – around 27.2 million euros – and has thus come to 48.5 million dollars (approx. 41.2 million euros) since the start five days ago.

This is the most successful starting weekend since the beginning of the pandemic. With that, “Godzilla vs. Kong” surpassed “Wonder Woman 1984” with 16.7 million dollars (approx. 14.2 million euros) in income on the first weekend and “Tom and Jerry” with 14 million dollars (approx. 11.9 million dollars) Million Euro). The strip was shown in a total of 3,064 American cinemas – more than since February 2020.

Also a hit worldwide

“Godzilla vs. Kong” has been launched on 38 cinema markets worldwide and has grossed around 285 million dollars (approx. 242 million euros) so far. Especially in China, the strip is very successful with around 114 million dollars in revenue. The production costs amounted to around 165 million dollars (approx. 140 million euros). It is still unclear when the film will be released in this country.
