Good deal – The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 “5 star” graphics card at €1,399.90

Less expensive than the GeForce RTX 4090 but still quite expensive, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card is aimed at gamers who want to play in 4K while activating the latest visual effects of the moment. A model that relies above all on its raytracing facilities and the support of Nvidia’s own technologies.

The GeForce RTX 4080 is a card to consider for gamers with an ultra-high definition monitor who want to enable all graphics effects in games while taking advantage of raytracing. This graphics card excels in the exercise and offers speeds which, even lower than those of the RTX 4090, remain particularly high. And to top it off, Nvidia adorns this graphics card – and the other RTX 4000 series – with the DLSS 3 upscaling system which perfects an already excellent recipe. A card of choice, for those who can afford it.

Strong points

  • 4K performance.
  • DLSS 3.
  • Raytracing performance.
  • Efficient cooling system.
  • HDMI 2.1a video output.
  • Nvidia software ecosystem.
  • Excellent finish.
  • Shutdown ventilation when the card is idle.

Weak points

  • Requires a very well ventilated enclosure.
  • Cooling system that undermines CPU air heatsinks.
  • Power connector in the middle of the card.

The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is a very good solution for gaming in 4K. Games display at a high frame rate, including raytracing when FSR is active. However, if AMD manages to offer a card as fast as its direct competitor (the GeForce RTX 4080), we remain a little disappointed by its raytracing performance. The gap with the opponent is then high and the situation will not get better as the games use more effects of this kind. Shame.
