Good deal – The Philips L’OR Barista “5 stars” coffee maker at €44.99 (-25%)

The coffee specialist L’OR has just recently launched its very first capsule coffee maker. Manufactured by Philips, the Barista looks like Nespresso machines.

With the Barista, L’OR and Philips transform the trial and come to heckle Nespresso on its land. Simple, fast and efficient, the Barista offers several coffee sizes and can dispense two preparations simultaneously. In addition, its catalog of capsules, less expensive than that of its competitor, and its availability in supermarkets could convince many users. Too bad that the capsules are made of aluminum, which in fact represents a real ecological abyss.

Strong points

  • Simple to use and easy to maintain.
  • Multiple coffee sizes available.
  • Rapid preheating and extraction.
  • Quiet machine.

Weak points

  • Dispensing nozzles not at all precise.
  • Flashes in case of insufficient water reserve but does not block the preparations.
  • Aluminum caps.

NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude prices from shops whose the VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically in the case of imports from China).

Alternatively

Simplified to the extreme, the Bosch Tassimo Finesse is a very basic coffee maker that focuses on the essentials. Only the intensity of the aroma can be selected by the user as this machine is devoid of options. Compact, silent and enjoying a catalog of varied drinks, this Tassimo Finesse will probably not have too much trouble convincing. However, espresso or strong coffee lovers may have to choose a model better suited for this preparation, such as a Nespresso or a Dolce Gusto.
