A stricter returns policy
No more 30 days of reflection: Amazon announced on Wednesday, in an e-mail that we were able to consult, to its marketplace sellers that the return time for many goods would be reduced by half. Customers will therefore soon have to return electronic devices such as laptops, graphics cards, smartphones, game controllers, cameras, routers and accessories no later than two weeks.
This new rule also applies to video games, Blu-ray movies, music CDs and office supplies. On the other hand, Amazon is not obliged to take them back if these products have been opened, unlike tech products which can be opened and repackaged properly.
The new return policy should apply from April 25 in Europe and the United Kingdom, and therefore also in France.
Some exceptions to the rule
There are still a few exceptions to this new return policy: televisions, TV boxes, e-readers and tablets from the Amazon Fire series remain subject to a 30-day return period.
It’s true that 30 days was generous, the new rule precisely adheres to the legal minimum required, which is 14 days. By reducing the return time, Amazon will undoubtedly make significant savings.
This decision will, however, disappoint customers accustomed to Amazon’s generous returns policy. It will now be necessary to be more responsive and more certain of your purchase when ordering electronic products on the platform.
