Good prince, Apple offers the cloth at 25 € with its Studio Display screen at 2,000 €

Apple has unveiled a new, more mainstream (but still a bit pricey) Studio Display. It will be delivered with a cloth, unless you opt for the less expensive version.

Remember, a few months ago, Apple added an amazing product to its catalog: a cloth to clean your screen without damaging it, charged 25 €. In many newsrooms (including ours), this object had become a running gag because of its unreasonable price (and its very existence). But let future owners of the Studio Display be reassured: it will be supplied with the new Apple screen.

However, as Apple’s logic is sometimes questionable, the cloth will only be included with the version of the Studio Display… the most expensive. The screen made official by Apple on March 8 will be marketed with or without nano-textured glass. And only with the option to reduce glare in a brightly lit environment will the cloth be free.

An Apple screen purchased, a cloth offered

It is by selecting the nano-textured glass option in the shop that we discover a different content in the packaging. Basically, the Studio Display, although billed at €1,749, only comes with cables. By paying € 1,999 to add the nano-textured glass, we see that a rag appears.

rather judge :

It is rather strange to observe this difference in treatment between two versions of the same screen. Especially when you know that the Studio Display remains, whatever happens, a high-end product. In addition, the nano-textured glass is a comfort option offered for those who use their Mac in a brightly lit place, where reflections can be numerous. In short, it is a choice that depends on its conditions of use.

In any case, Apple assumes this difference in the description: “ The nano-textured glass option comes with a soft-touch, non-abrasive cloth to ensure safe cleaning. Obviously, the standard Studio Display is not entitled to this accessory for cleaning, when the nano-textured glass seems to require more precaution. That is.

Note that the Pro Display XDR, Apple’s ultra high-end monitor, is delivered with the cloth, regardless of the coating option chosen. Still happy considering the price: from €5,499.
