This very practical feature of Pixel smartphones will undergo an overhaul that will make it essential in everyday life.
With each iteration of its operating system for mobile phones, Google strives to provide more or less innovative functions. Android 14 will, for example, allow you to customize your lock screen, like on iOS. Rumor has it that Android’s “Listening” toolwhich first appeared on the Pixel 2, and has been on all Pixel smartphones ever since, is getting a facelift that will make it a favorite feature among users.

“Listening” automatically creates a history of songs played near your smartphone. To do this, it uses machine learning technologies, but also noise suppression or audio zoom. On the same principle as the “Hey Google” command, your smartphone remains alert and activates its sound recognition algorithms when a song is broadcast in your environment. The functionality is not infallible, however, the Pixel 6 being for example unable to distinguish an Adele song and the sound of a toilet flushing.
The “Listening” function of the Pixels could undergo an extreme makeover
A man named Kieron Quinn discovered the new interface of this very useful tool by activating Android 14. Until now, “Listening”, it must be admitted, has a very austere appearance. According to Me Quinn, new headings will appear, which will display statistics about your listening habits : detail of identified songs and favorite songs, artists and genres.
The history can be kept in memory from 1 to 365 days, and will be set, by default, to 30 days. The future OS should give it an extreme makeover that will make the “Listening” interface much more attractive. The information and the way it is presented, everything has changed. Everything is presented in colorful and attractive graphs in the new Summary section, next to Favorites. According to Android World, this redesign should be visible from Android 14 and only on Pixels. We will therefore have to wait until August or September 2023 to enjoy this new feature.
