Google continues to optimize its many applications, and this is also the case for Google Keep. Allowing you to take notes and manage your tasks, the platform should soon benefit from a very practical new functionality.
A few days ago, the Mountain View firm tested a new toolbar to create additional notes in Google Keep, similar to the floating navigation bar found in Google Chat. The device received a rather positive reception from the first testers, but despite this the web giant made the decision to try another design, which is reminiscent of that of Google Calendar.
A floating action button
The famous blog TheSpAndroid which, as its name suggests, is interested in everything related to Google’s operating system, reviewed Google Keep beta version 5.24.112. In place of the bar previously tested, a floating action button is deployed. By tapping on it, the user is able to expand it vertically, bringing up three options. The first allows you to create a drawing, the second a list and the last a simple text note. Note that this type of button is already available in the platform, but does not allow you to expand as many options.
Although Google Keep is a much more discreet application than some of the company’s other software, it does not fall into disuse. At the end of 2023, the platform was equipped, for example, with a functionality allowing you to take notes with a stylus, a nice touch for tablet users.

Fierce competition
These slight adjustments are not surprising on Google’s part, as there are so many alternatives to Keep. From Notion to Evernote, there are a plethora of free note-taking apps. Of course, each has specific functionalities, some being adapted to more demanding uses.
For its part, Google Keep makes it easy to share notes with other users, allowing real-time collaboration on projects, ideas or to-do lists. Another advantage is that the application is integrated into the Google ecosystem and provides smooth navigation between these different services, such as the creation of reminders automatically added to Google Calendar, or the addition of notes directly from Google Docs.
