The industry analysis company Counterpoint, headquartered in Hong Kong, deals intensively with various navigation offers on the market every year. They distinguish between seven different categories and distribute points to the respective platforms.

Counterpoint’s Research Vice President Neil Shah described Here as the “Switzerland of navigation applications” because you can convince with an open, neutral and privacy-centric offer. Overall, the platform, which emerged from the Nokia Maps navigation program in 2012, scored 516 total points across the seven categories, 65 points ahead of Google Maps in second place.
TomTom completes the podium with 387 points. The Dutch provider convinced the researchers with leading navigation software and the widest range of offline maps. In addition, various regional providers that are particularly successful in Asia were examined. The field of navigation service providers is rounded off by start-ups, which have not yet been able to provide first-hand map data and are not unique enough to stand up to the big companies.
