Google is in the process of profoundly changing the design of its Messages application, and it is Galaxy smartphone users who are entitled to it first. The Mountain View firm is not holding back, since it has completely removed the search bar to leave much more space for its logo. A change that will disturb more than one person.
Clearly, Google is working hard to improve its Messages application at the moment. Just this morning, we reported to you that the Mountain View firm is working to make its messaging accessible from several devices simultaneously, like what WhatsApp and Messenger offer. A major update is therefore being prepared in the Silicon Valley offices, and a small design change was needed to accompany the news.
The news was reported by Radosław Błędowski, an Android design specialist who, according to him, is equipped with a Galaxy smartphone. At first glance, the app seems almost unrecognizable. It must be said that Google did not go out of its way to refresh the Messages interface, and did not hesitate to completely get rid of the search bar previously featured.

The decision may be surprising, because it is from this bar that it is possible to navigate through the different menus of Google Messages. With its new interface, the manufacturer prefers to display its four-color logo in large format, above the Messages title, which has not changed. Of course, the search function hasn’t disappeared. It is, however, hidden behind a small magnifying glass icon, placed right next to the user’s profile button.
We imagine that the latter redirects to the same window as the current version of the bar, where it is possible to search for media, conversations and other links, although this remains to be confirmed. In fact, we have not yet been able to get our hands on this update at the editorial office, despite a few Galaxy smartphones in our possession. According to 9to5Google, it is also via this menu that it will be possible to navigate through the different categories (unread messages, archived, blocked, etc.).
