Google Messages users noticed a bug in the app that caused their phone to overheat smart phone as well as a huge consumption of its battery.
A problem that can be overcome through the application settings, pending a possible update from Google.
The use of the camera in question
After a complaint on Reddit from a user, the site 9to5Google went to check and, yes, the Google Messages app is indeed experiencing a disturbing bug. As on other applications, it is possible on Messages to take a photo directly via the application to send it to your conversation. However, after taking and sending the photo, the camera continues to be used by Messages in the background, further causing the devices to overheat and drain the battery.
Fortunately, while waiting for an update from Google, it is possible to avoid this bug. First, be sure to properly close the app when you’re not using it anymore. Finally, and this is the most important manipulation to do here, if you are not an active user of the camera in the application, you can disable it in the settings.
To do this, press the Google Messages icon for a few moments and tap on “Application information”. You will arrive in the settings menu, scroll down a bit and select “Permissions”, which will take you to another menu which allows you to manage the authorizations for using the systems on your smartphone. There, you will choose “Camera”, then check the “Decline” box. That’s it, Google Messages will no longer be able to use your camera and you should be easy.
