Google is facing a new complaint in the United States concerning the overheating of its Pixel 6 Pro.

Jennifer Hyatt, whose device became so hot that it was unusable, had to be replaced several times. But each new device had the same defect. She therefore decided to file a collective complaint, inviting all people affected by the same problem to join her.

The plaintiff also accuses Google of having sold these devices while knowing the defect they presented, and without warning their future owners. As proof, she cites Google’s support article, “Preventing your Pixel phone from getting too hot,” which lists common use cases that lead to overheating – including video calls, recording videos or the use of GPS.

She would like Google to recall her phones and reimburse those who bought them. For the moment, it is not yet known whether the complaint will lead to a trial or whether it will be dismissed.

This is not the first time that Google has faced a class action lawsuit regarding its Pixel smartphones. The company was notably prosecuted and convicted for false advertising on the Pixel 4.
