Created by Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira, the Spanish duo behind the hit series Les Demoiselles du Téléphone (available on Netflix), Grand Hotel aired from 2011 to 2013 on Antena 3. With three seasons on the clock, the saga was a great success, spawning several adaptations in the United States, Italy, Mexico, Egypt and France in 2020, with Victor Meutelet, Solène Hébert and even Carole Bouquet in the cast.
Worn by Amaia Salamanca, Yon Gónzalez (also in the cast of Les Demoiselles du Téléphone), Eloy Azorin (Alta Mar) and Adriana Ozores, the series takes place in Spain at the beginning of the 20th century. Julio Olmedo, a young man from a modest background, goes to the fictional small town of Cantaloa to visit his sister Cristina, employed as a maid at the Grand Hotel, a luxury palace.
Once there, the young man learns that Cristina was fired a month earlier, accused of theft by a client, and has not given any sign of life since. Suspecting that something serious has happened to his sister, Julio decides to stay at the Grand Hotel to investigate, and gets hired as a waiter in the palace restaurant.
There, he meets Andrés, an employee with whom he befriends, and instantly falls under the spell of Alicia, the daughter of the hotel owner. Putting them in the secret, all three will try to find out what happened to Cristina. But in the process, they will unearth heavy secrets that could forever upset the daily life of the Grand Hotel …
Broadcast in 2012 in France on Teva then M6, the series is back in prime time on the Chérie25 channel from January 8, and will be broadcast every Saturday at 9:05 p.m. with two episodes per evening.
