Angry drivers in the UK get out of their cars and drag activists off the road with their own hands. This is shown by videos that are currently circulating on social media.
The activists belong to the group Insulate Britain, an offshoot of the environmental activist group Extinction Rebellion, which also blocked streets in Zurich last week. In England, however, motorists were less understanding.
Some activists got stuck on the street, resulting in long lines of vehicles. Therefore, some drivers got out and pulled the activists off the street by their rucksacks and clothes. The police finally arrested 35 people.
Founded by members of the Extinction Rebellion
The group writes on its Facebook page that it was founded in July by members of the Extinction Rebellion group and other related networks. They are calling on the British government to insulate houses in a more energy-efficient way in order to reduce CO₂ emissions and to be able to achieve the climate targets.
Insulate Britain activists protested for the first time on September 13th. Since then, they have repeatedly organized protests in which they block roads in the country. (gin)
