Green Book actor found dead on New York street


Actor in the Oscar-winning film “Green Book”, brother of screenwriter Nick Vallelonga, Frank Vallelonga Jr was found dead on a street in the Bronx district of New York. The 60-year-old actor died of an overdose.

Actor Frank Vallelonga Jr has been found dead on a New York street near a sheet metal factory. He was 60 years old. His death dates back to November 28. Reportedly, the NYPD responded to an emergency call on the morning of Monday, Nov. 28. Arrived on the spot, the Police discovered on the ground the body of a man without sign of life.

“The man had no obvious signs of trauma observed. The team on scene declared the man dead at the scene. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing” the NYPD said in a statement. According to information from the New York Times, the actor would have died of an overdose, and had become homeless…

To add to the sordidness of the discovery, a 35-year-old individual was also arrested, for concealment of a corpse, in connection with the body found. Surveillance cameras allegedly filmed him driving a car before stopping along a sidewalk, pulling the body of Frank Vallelonga Jr. out, then driving off.

Heard by the police, he said he had nothing to do with the death of the actor and did not know him. The car belonged to the actor’s brother, Nick Vallelonga, who said the individual used the vehicle without his permission…

Frank Vallelonga Jr. had a small role in The Sopranos. But he was best known for playing the brother of the character played by Viggo Mortensen, Frank “Tony Lip” Vallelonga, in the three-time Oscar-winning film Green Book. His brother, Nick Vallelonga, happened to be the film’s Oscar-winning co-writer, and also Tony Lip’s eldest son.
