(Reuters) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved the army’s plans for an offensive in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, his services announced on Friday.

The IDF is at the stage of operational preparations and evacuation of the civilian population, they said.

More than a million civilians have found refuge in Rafah since the start of the war between Hamas and Israel on October 7.
