Greta Thunberg: This is how your meeting with Angela Merkel went

Angela Merkel welcomed Greta Thunberg to the Chancellery. The Swede then described the meeting as a "friendly encounter".

Greta Thunberg (17) met with Chancellor Angela Merkel (66) in Berlin on Thursday (August 20). During their conversation in the Chancellery, to which the German climate activist Luisa Neubauer (24) and the two Belgians Anuna de Wever (19) and Adélaïde Charlier were invited, it was – how could it be otherwise – about issues of climate protection, like it at Instagram is called.

The Swedish climate activist described the meeting with Merkel at the subsequent press conference as "friendly". She has demanded that (political) leaders take action and treat the climate crisis like a crisis. Merkel has "a huge responsibility, but also a huge opportunity to become such a leader" in the climate crisis, the 17-year-old is quoted by "tagesschau.de". The "Fridays for Future" representative Neubauer also said that she had made it clear "that we are asking for nothing more and nothing less than that the Paris climate agreement is translated into politics".
