Reason to look forward to all "Grey's Anatomy" fans: ProSieben shows the eagerly awaited new episodes of the 17th season from April 28th.

Great news for all "Grey's Anatomy" fans: The 17th season finally starts on German television. ProSieben will show the new episodes every Wednesday at prime time from April 28th. A week beforehand, they also go online with the in-house streaming service Joyn. The season opener has a highlight in store – the unexpected reunion with one of the most popular characters from the hit series.

Season 17 begins with a crossover episode of "Grey's Anatomy" and the spin-off "Seattle Firefighters", in which everything revolves around the lives of the men and women of a fire station. In the middle of the corona pandemic, a group of teenagers unintentionally set off a serious fire. For this reason, ProSieben will show the first episode of the fourth season of "Seattle Firefighters" on Wednesday (April 28) at 8:15 pm. Immediately afterwards, "Grey's Anatomy" continues at 9:15 pm. From the following Wednesday (May 5th) the order of the two US series will be reversed again.

Return of the dead Dr. Derek Shepherd

The highlight of the new "Grey's Anatomy" episodes should be the guest appearance by Patrick Dempsey (55, "Bridget Jones' Baby"). The actor appears in his star role of Dr. Derek Shepherd aka "McDreamy" suddenly came back up. In what form and against what background, the viewers will find out at the end of the opening double episode, which flickered across the screens in the USA in mid-November last year.
