Born on PS3 and Xbox 360, essential on PS4 and Xbox One, Grand Theft Auto V and its online mode GTA Online will continue to exist next gen. The long-promised PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ports have had their release date set for March 15, 2022, so Rockstar Games decided to take stock of what awaits us.
Already on the technical side, we will have the choice between 3 display modes. The mode Loyalty will offer up to native 4K resolution and ray tracing at 30 fps, except on Series S where the resolution will be lower, in 1440p. The mode Performance will offer him 60 fps with upscaled 4K resolution, but no ray tracing, the Series S in front of it here will be satisfied with 1080p at the most. Finally, the mode RT Performance will be an intermediate choice aiming for 60 fps and 4K upscaled (1440p on Series S), but with ray tracing.
In all configurations, you will otherwise enjoy faster loading times, increased population and variety of traffic, increased vegetation density, better lighting quality for shadows, water reflections and other elements, as well as improved anti-aliasing and motion blur, and more detail for explosions, fires and more. Add to that the haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and 3D audio on PS5, as well as the Spatial Sound at the house of Microsoftand you get a nice list of optimizations.
On the new side, there will be as expected an exclusive garage for GTA Online. Hao’s Special Works will give access to a new class of moddable vehicles including 5 cars, special time trials in weekly rotation and a premium test ride to try them out. The new career creation feature will allow you to get off to a good start in the online adventure by unlocking 4,000,000 GTA$ to acquire commercial properties, vehicles and weapons. Rockstar Games will finally add a multiplayer-specific intro and tutorial, and a revamped main menu for direct access to Heists, Races, Modes Rivalryweekly events and more. Grand Theft Auto Online will come out for memory in stand-alone on next gen March 15, and may be downloaded and stored for free for 3 months by PlayStation 5 players.
The progress of the mode Story and Online maybe transferred from the previous generation to the new one free of charge, but only once. It will even be possible to switch from PS4 to Series X|S or from Xbox One to PS5, but the GTA$ purchased and not spent cannot be kept during this special operation. You can today upload your save mode Story through menu Pause of the game, by selecting the option Upload game save : Only one backup can be stored at a time, and will be kept for 90 days. For GTA Onlineyou will simply have to reconnect to your account Rockstar Games Social Club on next genand you will keep your GTA$your progress, your statistics, your vehicles, your properties, your weapons, your clothes and your created missions.
Last but not least: if Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online will be available digitally on March 15, a physical edition next gen is scheduled for April 2022. That way you know everything! GTA V – Premium Edition can currently be purchased on PS4 or Xbox One from €19.38 on Amazon.co.uk.
