GTT: an order from the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard

(AOF) – GTT announces that it has received an order from its partner the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard to design the cryogenic tanks for five very large capacity container ships powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for the shipowner Yang-Ming. This is the first time that a Chinese shipowner has opted for LNG propulsion technology for its container ships. This decision highlights the development and prospects of this fuel in Greater China, in line with the decarbonization of maritime transport.

These five ships, capable of carrying 15,500 containers each, will be equipped with a single LNG fuel tank with a capacity of 12,700 cubic meters. The tanks will incorporate the Mark III Flex membrane containment system developed by GTT, which guarantees a low evaporation rate (BOR) to optimize the vessel’s operations.

Delivery of these vessels is scheduled between the second quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.
