Gwyneth Paltrow is launching a new candle called ‘Hands Off My Vagina’

Gwyneth Paltrow, through her company Goop, just launched a new candle dubbed “Hands Off My Vagina” last week. A product launched in protest against restrictions on the right to abortion in the United States.

The candle was released days before the January 22 anniversary of the 1973 Roe vs. Wade ruling by the US Supreme Court on the question of the constitutionality of laws criminalizing or restricting access to abortion. Of the 75 dollars (more than 66 euros) that a candle costs per unit, 25 dollars (about 22 euros) are donated to the ACLU foundation (American Civil Liberties Union) committed to defending freedom of choice.

In a message posted on Instagram, the 49-year-old actress explains that “the word vagina holds a lot of power. And yet, there is always this need to say: hands off. Hands off our vaginas in any setting you’re not invited to. Our reproductive organs, our choice,” it read.

This is not the first time that the Goop company has launched a candle with a provocative name, after “It smells like my vagina”, “It smells like my orgasm”, or “It smells like my marriage contract”. Many celebrities are customers of candles from Gwyneth Paltrow’s company, including Elton John, Kim Kardashian – who received a personalized candle after her divorce from Kanye West – or Travis Barker, who requested a personal version called “It smells like Kourntey’s orgasm”.
