Do you fancy a little more color on your head? Then there is a colorful surprise for your hair: hair chalk! You can find out what advantages chalk has and how to use it here!

Hair chalk: what is it?

Hair chalk is colored chalk that is available in all rainbow colors. It is easy to use and lasts until the next hair wash. With hair chalk you have the opportunity to dye your hair in all shades of color and thus test which color you like best: Whether you just want to add a little more color to your everyday life or whether a special occasion like Carnival , Festival, party or birthday is coming up. Then you simply wash the hair out with shampoo as normal and get your natural hair color back.

Basically, the hair chalk is also reminiscent of the street chalk that we used to decorate curbs and asphalt as children – and it's basically something similar: Hair chalk consists of lime that has been mixed with color pigments. The mineral is easy to apply, then sticks to the hair and can be rinsed away with shampoo and water. As a clear advantage over conventional hair colorations, hair chalk does not penetrate the hair structure and does not damage it – but the splendor of color with hair chalk is not permanent. Incidentally, the color is known in English as "Hair Chalk".

Hair chalk: application

Requirements: The hair should be free of care and styling products.

How to apply hair chalk:

  1. Put on an old T-shirt or place an old towel on your shoulders – otherwise the chalk could stain your clothes (don't worry: it will wash off again!). To avoid staining your hands with paint, you can wear household gloves.
  2. Wet your hair (or the individual strand at a time). If you have very light hair, you can also use the hair chalk directly on dry hair. Darker hair should be damp (not completely wet!), However, so that the chalk holds better.
  3. Use a styling comb to section off the section of hair that you want to color. Tuck away the remaining hair with a hair clip.
  4. You can use a thin cardboard box as an aid to coloring: Place the hair on top and brush the hair over the hair with the chalk. Note that you have to stroke the chalk in the direction of hair growth. The box provides some support and helps to run the hair chalk over the hair more easily. If you don't have a box to help you, you can pull the hair taut with one hand and slide the hair chalk over it with the other hand. If necessary, twist in the strand a bit. Run the hair chalk over your hair several times until you have achieved the desired color intensity – Especially with darker hair, you should touch up several times with the hair chalk. Color in each of the strands that you want to be colored.
  5. Let the hair air dry. Note: If possible, do not use a hair dryer, it could weaken the color intensity – unless the effect is desired.
  6. At the end, the colored hair is sealed. Use for this a Straighteners (The hair must be completely dry for this): The heat of the straightening iron fixes the color pigments and binds them to the hair! Crepe irons or curling irons work similarly. Finally, apply some hairspray. Finished!

Note: Color pigments can also come off after sealing. So if you change your clothes, you should be careful. It's best to wash your hair before going to bed, otherwise colored stains on your pillow are likely.
