Halo Infinite: Season 3 delayed, local co-op removed

As we can see from this summary, a winter update will come between the end of season 2 and the start of season 3, which will finally begin on March 7, 2023 and end on June 27 of the same year. Set for November 8, 2022, the winter update notably includes the campaign playable in online cooperation as well as the possibility of replaying the missions of the said campaign, the Forge mode beta, two new maps (Detachment and Argyle), a new game mode (Covert One Flag) as well as 30 free Battle Pass rewards.

To see a little further, we are also told that season 3 will notably include two new maps (arena and Big Team Battle), a new weapon (M392 Bandit), new equipment (ShroundScreen) and 100 new Battle Pass rewards. And if in all of this the split-screen co-op campaign is still missing, it’s because it was simply removed from the roadmap, even if the possibility of local play was a goal that Microsoft had set for all Halo games.

In order to improve and accelerate the development of current live services, and to better respond to player feedback and gameplay updates, we have reallocated studio resources and are no longer working on screen co-op shared for the campaign“, declared 343 Industries. A justification that some fans will have a hard time swallowing, especially since Microsoft had called in reinforcements (in particular Certain Affinity) to avoid any kind of disillusionment.
