This Monday, May 2, TF1 will broadcast the TV movie Handigang, in which Alessandra Sublet and Théo Curin give the reply. But did the facts recounted really happen?
This Monday, May 2, viewers will witness the debut of Alessandra Sublet, as an actress. Indeed, TF1 will broadcast the TV movie Handigang from 9:10 p.m. Alongside Théo Curin, she plays the role of a mother whose son is a teenager with a disability. At school, the young man will set up a gang to show everyone all the obstacles they have to face as disabled people to evolve in our society. A telefilm which does not want to be militant but which nevertheless carries benevolent values. And for good reason: it is neither more nor less than the adaptation of a book, written by Cara Zina.
The author tells her story, that of a mother of a handicapped child. His novel then tells the story of Sam, a teenager in a wheelchair who will fiercely revolt against the lack of accessibility in his city. Thus, he will bring together other people with disabilities and together they will tackle places that they consider to be difficult to access, such as schools or concert halls. If all this is fiction, in the 1970s, a Committee for the Struggle of the Disabled was born.
Alessandra Sublet: “I immediately said that I did not want to be the spokesperson for the disabled”
Handigang therefore carries a strong message, even if Alessandra Sublet does not wish to be the voice of people with disabilities: “I immediately said that I didn’t want to be the spokesperson for the disabled. It was the film as a whole that I liked. I’m not going to “do it” to you by telling you that the disabled I have always been concerned. In truth, it only affects you when you are concerned. But when we meet people with disabilities, we realize that it is we who look at them as disabled people, not the other way around”, she told our colleagues Star TV.
