After the US ban and the suspension of Google services, Huawei announced that HarmonyOS is an excellent Android alternative that can run on any device. At that time they wanted to line up against Apple and Google. A new version is announced with HarmonyOS 3.0, but we are still looking into the tube.
Huawei will release HarmonyOS 3.0 in September 2022
With HarmonyOS, Huawei offers a universal operating system that runs on smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, televisions and many other devices. A perfect ecosystem should be created that even trumps Apple’s ecosystem. After a few years of development, there is still no sign of this. That could change with HarmonyOS 3.0. This will be before the release of HarmonyOS 3.0 Mate 50 presented by Huawei in July 2022. So it would be too early for the new version of the operating system and would appear at least in China with HarmonyOS 2.0. Should the new Huawei smartphone find its way to Germany, it would run Android one way or another. Although Huawei sells us tablets and smartwatches with HarmonyOS, the smartphones continue to run with Android and the EMUI interface. This means that the potential of the ecosystem cannot be exploited at all, even if you continue to buy Huawei products.
Whether Android or HarmonyOS: There are no Google services and apps on any of the devices. So it would not matter at all whether you installed HarmonyOS or Android on the smartphones in Germany. So you could switch and at least do something in the direction of the ecosystem. But Huawei has already waved it off. It doesn’t come to that.
