Hartley, raw hearts on Netflix: has the reboot conquered subscribers?

The famous series of the Nineties “Hartley, hearts to raw” is back in the form of a modernized version for Netflix. Has the reboot seduced a new generation?

Launched in 1994, the Australian series Hartley, raw hearts marked an entire generation. Three decades later, a modernized version sees the light of day on Netflix. A new cast punctuates this reboot, but the most nostalgic can be reassured: as in the original, the series addresses many social issues dear to adolescents.

Composed of 8 episodes, this Hartley, raw hearts of 2022 is very similar to more contemporary programs, such as Sex Education or Euphoria. What do subscribers think of this modernization? Back to some reactions.

I just watched Hartley, Hearts Alive and absolutely loved it. Especially the realistic way in which autistic young adults are portrayed. There is still too much discrimination around this topic and we need more people like Chloe Hayden to represent women with autism.”

This series was so soothing to watch. Finally having a good representation of autism because someone who is truly autistic is so new and she does it wonderfully well. Thank you so much Chloe Hayden!

I watched the first episode of Hartley, hearts raw. It smacks of deja vu. Like an Australian parody of Sex Education. The characters are almost identical. There’s a quirky little thing that I haven’t been able to make out yet. Maybe I’ll keep watching.”

I find myself staring back at Hartley, hearts racing. I have never watched a series so quickly after finishing it. The story, the atmosphere and the soundtrack are as they should be. It’s Euphoria, Sex Education and Genera+ion mixed into one series.”

Hartley, raw hearts is fine. Beyond other things, it’s a great queer portrayal and fantastic satire on horrible high school sex education..”

Hartley, raw hearts is available on Netflix.
