The meeting between Florent Pagny and his wife Azucena is nothing short of a fairy tale. It was in the documentary “Florent Pagny, a free man” broadcast on TF1 on Sunday 1, 2023 that the latter told the underside of their story.
It was in a moment of turmoil that Florent Pagny met his wife Azucena. Indeed, as told in the documentary “Florent Pagny, a free man”, the singer had just lived a rather complicated year 92 when he was invited to a dinner. It was there that he first met model and film artist, Azucena. “I find myself at a party and Florent arrives. He had lots of very strange accessories for me at that time, an improbable dog, it was the first time that I had seen an all-white bull terrier (…) and a sublime but tuned car. I thought to myself ‘Who can do such a thing?’ I was told, “Ah, it’s Pagny.” “And the dog?” “Ah, it’s Pagny.” Who’s Pagny?” When I introduced myself and shook his hand, he pulled it away. I said to myself, who is this guy who is pulling my hand? ‘It’s Pagny’. He had it all wrong in fact.” Azecuna said.

An atypical meeting during which Florent Pagny completely fell in love with his beautiful. “Slowly, he was flirting with me but I didn’t know it was flirting…I thought it was a bit aggressive. He always had weird jokes or almost aggressive words. I was told that he was trying to flirt with me awkwardly. And there I realized that it was clumsiness and shyness. It was nice and my gaze changed towards him. I discovered a superb person who really seduced me .” added the mother of the family. Despite her affection for the singer, Azucena was cautioned early on in her relationship. “I had some bells ringing that told me he was a finished singer.” she explained, ultimately preferring to follow her heart. Today, after thirty years, their love is still as close as ever.
