“He said goodbye to me”: Carlos Marin’s ex-wife makes moving revelations about the singer’s last moments


The former companion of singer Carlos Marin, the member of the Il Divo quartet who died Sunday, December 19, has unveiled moving information about the singer’s last moments.

Sunday 19 December 2021, disappeared singer Carlos Marín. The Spanish baritone, known as member of the classic crossover group Il Divo, died of Covid-19 in Manchester, at the age of 53. His death was announced via the music group’s Twitter account: “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that our friend and partner, Carlos Marin, has passed away. A private funeral vigil was held in Madrid, this Monday, December 27, 2021, where Carlos Marín’s body had been repatriated. The singer’s ex-wife, Geraldine Larrosa spoke, recalling the last moments of the man whose life she shared and with whom she had remained very close despite their divorce in 2009.

He knew he wasn’t gonna make it

As reported by the Daily Mail, the 44-year-old actress and singer was able to speak with Carlos Marín shortly before his death. She mentions in particular a heartbreaking videoconference conversation while he was already hospitalized in Manchester: “Before I was intubated he said goodbye to me because he knew he was not going to be okay and it was the saddest picture of my life (…) He called me and told me he loved me like crazy and that I was the woman of his life and asked me to take care of his family“, she confided to the press. And Geraldine Larrosa to add:”We had survived the pandemic and in the end the pandemic took him away from me. She was the most generous person in the world, the greatest artist in Spain and around the world. I still can’t believe what happened. I will continue to fight for her dreams and the dreams we had together. I don’t want the world to forget about it“.

Celine Dion’s tribute

The baritone’s funeral will take place on Tuesday, December 28. During his career in the group Il Divo, Carlos Marín had the chance to sing with the greatest voices, like Celine Dion. The Canadian singer, had also addressed a tender tribute to him: “Your talent and your passion for the stage were magnificent. Collaborating with you was a real privilege. My deepest condolences to their loved ones. Rest in peace, you will not be forgotten“, she said on Instagram.
