One month right after the announcement of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, here comes the Motorola Edge 40. At 599 euros, this smartphone follows the outline of its big brother, admitting a few concessions here and there. For once, Motorola seems to have all the lights green, or almost.

Among its strengths, note its pOled screen (for Oled plastic) of 6.55 inches in FHD + (402 dpi) refreshed in 144 Hz. Let’s also mention a contained weight of 171 g with the vegan leather covering and 167 g in plastic. Another advantage: a 68W load is in the game.

A complete technical sheet

Here is the rest of the spec sheet

  • SoC: Dimension 8020;
  • OS: Android 13 (two major updates);
  • RAM: 8GB LPDDR4X;
  • Storage: 256 GB (UFS 3.1);
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 5.2;
  • Audio: stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos;
  • Battery: 4400mAh.

For the photo, the Motorola Edge 40 incorporates two modules. A 50 megapixel sensor (f / 1.4, PDAF, OIS) and an ultra wide-angle module (13 megapixels, 120 °, f / 2.2).

But then, this Moto Edge 40 looks pretty good, doesn’t it? Yes, except that it suffers from a very annoying detail. It will only have two years of Android updates and three years of security patches. It’s too little for its price range.
