Health: Hands-free kits, an effective defense against radiation exposure

It is less and less rare to come across users of hands-free kits in the middle of a telephone conversation in the street or on public transport. However, the question arose until now: do these devices that allow you to use your smartphone without taking it out of your pocket or bag have an impact on our exposure to the waves and therefore on our health?

For the ANFR, the answer is unequivocal: no, hands-free kits do not represent any particular danger to the health of their users.

“The use of this equipment allows you to significantly reduce your exposure to the waves, compared to direct use of your mobile phone”, indicates the French policeman of frequencies at the end of a recent study.

Better still, “the use of the headset is one of the good behaviors recommended by the French authorities to reduce its exposure to electromagnetic waves emitted by mobile phones”, recalls the Agency, which relied on a comparative tour of the different models sold commercially to take stock of the matter.

While it distinguishes wired and wireless devices (which themselves emit waves), it concludes “that the use of headsets, whether wired or wireless, makes it possible to very significantly reduce the level of exposure to the waves compared to a telephone stuck to his ear”.

More precisely, the use of these devices makes it possible to reduce the level of exposure of the head “by a factor of 10 on average”. And if the degree of exposure to waves turns out to be greater in the case of wireless hands-free kits, this difference is not likely to endanger your health. Something to reassure the general public, fond of these very practical kits to free your hands for a telephone conversation.
