Heat wave: four departments placed on orange vigilance because of the high temperatures expected on Sunday: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

First heat wave alert of summer 2023! Saturday July 8, 2023, in the middle of the afternoon, Meteo France placed four departments on alert heat wave orange for the day of Sunday 9 2023. The departments concerned are Ain, Alpes-Maritimes, Isère and Rhône. If it was already particularly hot in these departments in recent days, the thermometer should cross a new course. Indeed, in the Center-East and South-East, highs of 34 to 37°C, or even a little more locally, are expected. The orange heat wave vigilance has been launched, especially because in these departments, the night will remain very hot. Minimum temperatures should remain around 25 degrees. According to Météo France, it is“an aggravating factor” of this heat wave. This alert will begin at 6 a.m. on July 9, 2023. This is an episode “not exceptional for the season, but whose persistence requires special vigilanceespecially for sensitive or exposed people”further specify Meteo France in his newsletter.

Two other departments could be affected by this heatwave alert

Temperatures should still remain high on Monday July 10, 2023, since in Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur, the thermometer could reach the 40 degrees. “A rise in orange level is therefore not excluded for the departments of Var and Bouches-du-Rhône”added the weather institute, adding that if “the end of this episode is of course still uncertain […] the risk seems to be sustainable in the south-east of the country”. The day before this alert, Friday July 7, 2023, the Ministry of Health announced the implementation of its prevention campaign and heat wave awareness. Once again, it is recommended for fragile people to stay cool, and to hydrate themselves a lot. You have to have the reflex to drink water before you feel thirsty. Other tips: eat fresh, get your body wet or go for gentle outings without much effort.
