Helicopter mission – distracted by car radio: collision with biker

A 56-year-old motorcycle driver was seriously injured in a collision with a car on Tuesday afternoon in Krieglach. The young driver was distracted by the radio.

At around 3:30 p.m., the 56-year-old Danish motorcyclist was coming from Alpl down the valley on the B72 in the direction of Krieglach. The 18-year-old car driver from the Weiz district drove uphill in the direction of Ratten. While operating his radio, the driver crossed the road and collided with the motorcycle handlebars. He fell in the process. The injured man was flown to the LKH Bruck an der Mur by the rescue helicopter Christophorus 17, the driver of the car was uninjured. Due to the accident, the B72 was completely closed between 3:30 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. The two vehicles were recovered by the Krieglach fire department.
