“You have to be able to have the money in your bank account as early as September or October, because if you’re told ‘it’s great, there’s a big wheeler device, but it’s in March or April next’, I think it will not meet the needs of French people”, she added. The government has decided to extend at least until the end of August the discount on fuel of 18 cents (in mainland France), established since April 1, which was to be replaced by a “big wheeler” device at the start of the school year.
“For those who travel a lot of kilometers a day, either to get to their job, or as part of their job”, a device “will be put in place (…) at the start of the school year to accompany (them), ” indicated Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne on June 7. According to Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the decision on the evolution of the support provided by the government to help the French cope with the fuel surge has not been taken to date.

“It is quite the discussion that is on the table, it is to know if we make this aid big rollers, if we extend the 18 cents, if we extinguish the 18 cents, in what way, on what date? “said the Minister, also referring to the mileage scale, a recently upgraded device that allows taxed households to deduct part of their fuel expenses as professional expenses.
The government is at the “consultation” stage with trade unions and business representatives, said the minister, hoping for a discussion that takes into account “other purchasing power measures”, such as the increase in pensions, for example.
“To put the right answer on fuel, we must also integrate all the other means by which we are going to allow the French to increase their purchasing power”, concluded Ms. Pannier-Runacher, for whom “it would be stupid to treat each subject in a disconnected way: the purchasing power of the French is basically what they have in their bank account, which allows them to cope with the increases”.
